Retrace

Find them by what they wore, never by who they are.

Point at someone on a frame, upload a still, type a plate or simply describe them. Retrace turns it into words, searches every camera you can see, and returns ranked leads with the reasons. A person decides every sighting.

Start from anything

Five ways to begin a search.

Frame

Draw a box on a frame

On a live view or an event snapshot, box the person or vehicle you mean.

Still

Upload a still

A frame from another system or a photo from a member of staff.

Plate

Type a number plate

Exact matches first, then plates a camera could easily have misread, then near misses.

Words

Describe them

"Grey hoodie, red trainers, carrying a long box." Typed searches and plates cost nothing.

Chat

Ask the assistant

Attach a photo in the assistant and ask where that person went next.

Then

It is described once

The probe becomes a fixed vocabulary of clothing, colours, items and vehicle details. The words are searched; the pixels are never compared with footage.

Ranked, with reasons

Bands, not percentages. A percentage reads like identity.

Every hit shows what matched, what was missing and what conflicted. Rare details count for more than common ones on your cameras, so twenty white shirts stay weak and the one with red trainers rises to the top.

Linked

Part of the same visit KENAEZ already tracked, with nothing in the description contradicting it.

Strong

Distinctive matching detail with no conflict, or an exact plate read. Look at these first.

Possible

Some agreement, or a description that was not written from that exact frame. Judge from the image.

Weak

Common details only. Shown so nothing is hidden, ranked so nothing is overstated.

Re-examine the top results and each candidate is described again from its own still. Your match and not-match calls re-rank the rest.

Cases

From lead to evidence you can hand over.

  • Nothing is a sighting until an operator confirms it
  • Confirming copies the still and clip into the case with a SHA-256 checksum, so evidence outlives normal retention
  • A journey map of confirmed sightings across sites and time
  • Two sightings that could not both be true, given the travel time, are flagged for you to resolve
  • Status, priority and an assignee for handover between shifts
  • A PDF report and a ZIP whose SHA256SUMS file anyone can verify with standard tools

Sharing evidence

The right export for the right recipient.

Export profile Who it is for Bystanders Video
Police Law enforcement requests Originals Included
Third party Insurers, solicitors, clients Everything outside the subject's box pixelated Withheld
Subject access The person who was recorded Everything outside the subject's box pixelated Withheld

Video is withheld from redacted exports because a fixed box cannot follow a moving person. View-only share links expire after 24 hours, 72 hours or 7 days, and every view is logged.

Safeguards

Powerful enough to need rules. So it has them.

Never biometric

No face matching, no face or body template, no image embedding. An automated test fails any release that tries.

Scoped to your cameras

Every search and every case shows each user only the cameras they are allowed to see.

Audited for a year

Every case, probe, search, verdict and report is an append-only audit record kept for 365 days.

Reason required

Your organisation can require a reason for every search and restrict Retrace to administrators.

Kept only as long as needed

Untouched drafts go after 7 days and closed cases after 90 by default, with their images and evidence.

People only

Guests, WhatsApp and external AI connections can never reach Retrace. It is for your own signed-in operators.

Apparent characteristics are off by default

An organisation admin can choose to include apparent sex, age band, build and similar attributes, but only after recording a lawful basis for special category data. When on, they are always labelled as apparent, can be wrong, weigh no more than clothing, and can lower a result by one band at most, never exclude it. Health, disability, gait and religion are never recorded.

Reveal what's hidden

Bring the cameras you already own. We'll show you KENAEZ on your own buildings, from the first edge node to the morning report.
