Edge node

The AI lives on site. Nothing gets in.

The KENAEZ edge node runs detection beside your cameras on a small Linux box, a Raspberry Pi or a Windows PC you already have. It connects outwards to KENAEZ, never the other way, and only installs updates signed offline by keys it already trusts.

A small fanless mini PC with an orange status light in a network cabinet beside a PoE switch
Runs on 64-bit Linux, Raspberry Pi 4 and 5, Windows 10, 11 and Server
Models NanoDet-Plus and RTMPose-t, Apache-licensed, run locally
Network Outbound connections only. No port forwarding
Offline Events queued on disk, with up to 2 GB of media, until the link returns

On your network

A good neighbour for your IT team.

The node reads RTSP streams on your local network and sends events out over HTTPS. Your firewall needs no new inbound rules, and your cameras are never exposed to the internet.

  • Live video leaves the site only while someone is watching it
  • The node sizes itself to its hardware and reports its own performance
  • Its clock offset is measured, so event times are right even when the box's clock is not
  • Each node has its own key, which an admin can rotate or revoke in seconds
  • The dashboard shows each node as up to date, update pending or needing attention

Signed releases

Our servers can hold an update back. They can never ship one.

Edge software is signed offline with a key that never touches our servers or our build system. Each node checks a new release against the keys of the release it already runs before it writes a single file.

01

Signature first

An Ed25519 signature over a manifest of every file's SHA-256 hash. No valid signature, no update.

02

Then every file

Every file is checked against the signed manifest, and older versions are refused, so a release cannot be rolled back to a weaker one.

03

Installed from the checked tree

The updater that runs is the one inside the verified release. Our servers never serve an update script of their own.

Local console

Everything an installer needs, on the box

A password-protected console on the node itself shows data flow and performance, lets an installer commission cameras and choose the AI model, and is where the site's own remote access switch lives. It listens on the local machine by default.

Windows

Locked down by default

The install folder is restricted to SYSTEM and Administrators, Python must sit under Program Files, nothing is staged in temporary folders, and the node checks all of this every time it starts and reports any problem.

Need everything on site?

For sites that must run locally, the KENAEZ bridge installs on a Windows server with its own database and messaging, and keeps working when the internet does not. Talk to us about on-premises deployment.

Hardware calculator

Not sure what to buy?

Enter how many cameras a site has and which modules they run. The calculator tells you the processor, memory and storage each edge node needs, and how many nodes the site needs.
